I feel that I am always so consumed with so much “Stuff” in my life. Stuff is what takes up so much of my time. Stuff is what is distracting, but necessary (laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking, the daily routine of work, errands, and “fill in the blank”). I keep saying I will take time to stop and bask in HIS presence, I will make time… I will make time to enjoy the silence, I will get to it.

God tugs on my heart strings to stop and listen, to stop and enjoy the small and beautiful things in daily life. Stop and look at the moon and the stars. Stop and enjoy a game of finding different pictures in the clouds with my son. Stop and watch my son as he learns something new each day. Stop and stare at my son’s beautiful smile. Stop and enjoy the quiet moment of holding hands with my husband. Stop talking and just be with each other.

Stop and enjoy the fresh air, and the morning breeze; following the example of my dog as she so clearly appreciates her surroundings outside. She stops for a moment and smells the air, lets the breeze blow in her hair, and gazes up at the sky…. no yelling at the dog to hurry up and go potty. I need to gaze in wonder at the sky, and be thankful for all of God’s blessings, to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, to hear the music in the quiet stillness.

I am reminding myself to ENJOY THE SILENCE.
